Alpine air makes you hungry – as we’re sure you’ve already found out!
The Messner family, which has run the Gampen Alp hut for over 30 years (since 1977), serves hearty home-made South Tyrolean specialities in the pinewood-panelled parlour: from barley soup and cheese dumplings, to the Gampen Hut cheese & bacon “marende” and game goulash.
Produce from our own farm and alpine dairy is also used: bacon, smoked beef, graukäse cheese, milk, buttermilk, jam, apple juice, elderberry juice and more.
Ask too about our special dishes from the farm kitchen, which we serve to our guests as a special treat on certain days: e.g. “Tirtlan” pastries, fried potato pastries or cheese dumplings! Prepare yourself for a surprise!

A nice drop of wine from Peter’s cellar goes well with our delicious food, and before heading back down the mountain, our guests often treat themselves to a home made schnapps too.
